LOL
Im 28 with a marriage 2 kids and a big mortgage so i guess i am grown up :rotfl:
However, now both kids are in full time school i can think about the career i would have had if i hadnt had children at 21. The only problem is I have no idea where to start or what I want to do.
I am not on jsa or anything so idont think the job centre will help with advice from what ive read.
Any idea where I should start? are there any online quiz type things where i can put a lot of information into that might give me some ideas of suitable jobs?

it hard isnt it! we are not exactly rolling in it but i think if it was seen as an investment we could find the money for me to go to college or do a course elsewhere... my mum would help out too im sure.
I could do with earning though really, i miss it tbh!0 -
I had no idea what I wanted to do when I left school at 16 and still have no idea now 10 years later, im starting out by doing English and Maths courses at my local Sure Start Center so I can build my CV up. I have no idea what I am going to do after that though.0

Don't know about sites but is there anything you are good at, that interests you or any skills you could build on? What kind of income would you be looking for and I am guessing it's school friendly hours?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

may be an idea to look at community ed courses as I have taken quite a few courses via a Genesis program for out of work women, have done a self development course and lots of short taster courses in things as diverse as nail art and pottery, indian head massage, art and homopathy - have met interesting people and the course facilitators are very good at helping you to focus on what you want in terms of work goals etc and its all FREE - am sure most areas have something similar or that your local jobcentre will have some kind of link to 'Bridges into Work' type schemes where there is lots of help and advice available and where you can undertake free first aid and food hygeine courses etc which are good for the C.V. If it is any consolation though I am 35 and 'still don't know what I want to be when I grow up', have tried out most things I thought I may like and didn't like them - I find it so hard juggling kids and work too, stresses me right out and me and stress are not friends. I even took a career profiling test - all quite official under exam conditions and took a whole morning after which I got a comprehensive booklet showing all my strengths weaknesses, likes dislikes, job ideas etc and still I could not hand on heart say any of the jobs featured really grabbed me. That test is usually £100-£200 but my local community college were offering it free. years ago there used to be careers directories that were A-Z of jobs that you could browse to your hearts content,am sure if you googled careers ideas you could find something similar online and maybe looking through that something will jump out at you. Good Luck!0

I just registered to ask basically the same question...
29, working in a job which is fun day-to-day but going nowhere fast, wanting a new job but also willing to go back to college for vocational training first, but can't dedide what type of thing.
There are many personality questionnaires which work out what type of person you are and then match that to appropriate jobs and careers. Many offer free results and give you a sort of code relating to how introverted/extroverted you are, how analytical/instinctive, etc etc, but you have to pay for the actual career matches.
Anybody think they are worth it? Or even better, anybody know where to get the whole service for free, online or from some kind of high street service without signing on to an employment agency?
Sounds like there'd be a lot of people willing to hear about it as much as me!
Good luck to all the other people, hope you find that new job soon.0 -

I'm 39 soon and still don't know what I want to do, apart from earn enough money to support my family and be relatively comfortable but even that's too much to ask for nowadays.0

I wouldn't advise anyone to take one of these tests online...ask at your local community ed college, thats where I did mine and it was FREE! Was via the Careers Service so all above board and all proper0

Have you tried the Prospects website:
http://www.prospects.ac.uk/jobs_and_work_experience.htm
It has a section called 'what jobs will suit me' - you fill in a multi-choice questionnaire then it lists jobs you might like. It also gives a detailed description of each type of job.
Hope that helps
