I do hope this girl gets her problem sorted, i been there a few years ago with someone dropping out leaving me to short a £165 additional cost, not nice :(
  • Been there, done that.... whenever you ask people "do you want to go on holiday / for a night out etc..." most people always say yes thinking how great it would be but without thinking about costs involved and if they can afford it etc.

For my stag weekend I was planning to go to Budapest - flights £80 pp, hotel £35 pp.... I was determined that I would not book anything until I had everyones money... one person dragged their feet getting it to me and by the time I had it all and went to book, the flights had gone up to £200 pp.

Eventually we went to Berlin and had a wicked time but a long, long time ago I learned never ever to book anything without covering the costs if a person were to drop out.

OP, before you do anything else, can you not sit down with the "friend" and explain to them that if they don't pay up, you will be out of pocket...

I personally don't think you need the cost or the stress of going to court and IMHO you wouldn't win anyway.

Its a very difficult situation but I think you need to sort this out of court if possible.
A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.
  • Is there another friend who could take her place?
