Advice for island hopping between Channel Islands

Hello,

We are looking to honeymoon in the Channel Islands in September this year and want to try and island hop between Jersey, Guernsey and the smaller isles. We have been to Guernsey before so could spend less time there, but would like to try and see what we can in just five days. We are planning to fly from Southampton and budget needs to be kept low but don't want to completely slum it, as its our honeymoon!

What is the most cost effective way of travelling and which order should we travel to the islands in? Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced hotels? Can we do it all without a car if we just stick to the main towns of each place? One place we definitely want to go to is the underground hospital on Jersey.

Other than that, we just like to people watch in cafe's etc or maybe do a little shopping or take in the scenery.

Any advice would be most welcome please! Many thanks...

  • you would probably want to stay in St Helier or close to it and you can get to Gurnsy by ferry if your in st helier then its dead easy as the ferry port is right in the center of st helier

Buses are really cheap, car hire is quite cheap as well but parking is a nightmare as you have to buy these little scratch cards

ive stayed at the Pomme Dor and the Raddison Blue which are both nice hotels right in the center not really cheap at around 100 a night for both of you B&B but they are a great location for getting around jersey im pretty sure that the radison has a swimming pool i didnt find it though breakfast at the pomme dor is really good
and the main shopping area is at the back of the hotel around 5 mins away

if you consider going by ferry - then condor ferries do some really good deals for hotels and ferry + car (the fast ferry is only 3 hours from weymouth)
or you can just go by ferry its pretty cheap if your just a foot passenger at around 35 pounds
