lost passport

dont now if this is the right place to post but here goes.

applied for husband passport in october and 2 weeks later his documents were put through the door by dx courier services. then a week later apparently the put the passport through. i did not recieve this so i call passport office and was told it was delivered on the 29th october and a photo of my door was taken. i definitely did not recieve and they said we had to apply again. anyways we did so 2 weeks ago paying all the fees again including check and send and secure delivery as we did before bu after speakin to family and friends they say we should ask for a refund as why pay for something tice whe we did not recieve it.

evrytime i ring the helpline they just say u have to apply again.

does anyone know what we could do or if we are entitled to a refund. i paid 88 pounds twice.

many thanks

Ask for proof of delivery - maybe the door they have a pic of is not yours?
    Gone ... or have I?

I would contact the delivery company, and advise them that you are going to report your passport as stolen, and ask them to investigate.

At the end of the day, by them taking the Photo they have effectively agreed that they have had hold of the passport, and to your knowledge they (the driver) was the last person to have their hands on it.

You never know - on further investigation there may end up being a trend of passports going missing from certain drivers regular routes.

    Hi
One other concern I would have after watching a BBC1 program yesterday is that the passport you never recieved could end up being used by criminal groups to allow a person to take over the indentity of the lost passport and could give a lot of grief later on if the person was then to getr CC ect. IMO it is something that along with getting "proof" that said passport "was delivered"
I am not saying this to cause further worry but the program yesterday showed that it was only down to the person that had not recieve the passport pushing over {I believe} 5 years after the passport was "lost in post" a person had claimed over {I think} £90,000. I know she was not at fault but if the passport was to be used for CC the risk of your husband getting onto a credit blacklist could be astronomical

if you paid for secure delivery the first time, shouldn't this have been sent as a "signed-for" package otherwise it's not very secure
  • i wrote in a complaint yesterday to the passport office and recieved a reply today and cause when i contacted them in october they gave me the door details of the picture they took and it matched my door they said i had no other option but to apply again.

on a good note t said my new application had been processed and i will recieve passport within 48 hours.

    that's good then
  • I can't imagine what they think taking a picture of a door would prove! Was always under the impression that passports had to be signed for.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
  • they say that in some postcodes they ask for a signature and some postcodes take a picture of the door... it's even on their website... very weird as how can photo of door prove that they actually put the ltter through the door... oh well i guess just a waste of 88 pounds...
