Comet and the Hoover VHD washer/dryer

To cut a long story short, in October 2009 we purchased a Hoover VHD SensorDry washer/dryer. Every 2nd dry, it would would require an engineer to come and replace the thermostatic cut-out switches in the machine as they would trip.
On the 9th visit (Oct. 2010), the engineer told us that Hoover had admitted there was as design fault and that he had now come armed with a whole host of new parts (he fitted an up-rated cooling fan, 3 new thermo-switches and some other parts), and Comet extended the warranty by 3 months, and agreed to replace the machine if it packed-up again.
All went well till Christmas Eve when the dryer packed-up again. Phoned Comet today, and they are sending engineer number 10 (wonder if it will be Dave, Matt, Kevin or Ian this time?) to see if it is the same fault. If it is, god help Comet if they try to persuade us to agree to a repair. I will be standing my ground and demanding a new machine be delivered forthwith.

Eeeek! How you have managed to not go postal by now is beyond me :rotfl:
I'm hacked off with comet and i only want an adaptor
Stick to your guns for a new machine, please tell me you got that offer in writing tho0 -
Yes, we did at least get something in writing.
Today will be visit number 10. On visit number 8 my OH went at the engineer like a p1ssed-off rottwieler. I think he was lucky to escape with his life intact.
Edit:
As I type, the engineer is testing the machine having changed the one part none of the others thought of changing, the inline temperature sensor. All seems well.Never Knowingly Understood.

Send it back, do you really believe it's not going to fail again?0

If the engineer who came-out on visit number 1 had bothered to check the temp. sensor and change it, we would not have had to have any further visits. When the latest engineer removed and tested the part, it was immediately obvious where the problem was. Just goes to show, get the right guy & things get fixed.
I still have 5 years left to reject the machine anyway, so no problems there.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi patman99,
From reading your post it is unreasonable to have so many engineer visits and still have this problem. Therefore, if we have committed to replacing the machine if it became faulty again and fail to honour this could you please contact me so that I can investigate this further for you, so can you please send an email using the below link and quote the reference number 124661 in your message.
