Mine look very good compared to others on the allotments. They were bought from http://www.plantsbypost.com/
I bought as plants because we moved here early july and I wanted something in for winter. Weeded a few times and just fed chicken manure pellets as I was so late. All the plants look well and were very clean from the start. I had the net ready while I planted out and tbh it was so worth doing. Some people left the netting for a few hours and the caterpillar eggs got trapped inside
I am trying hard to get myself organised so that I can keep to my rotations in a smooth a manner as possible and this will help me with my own plan. I am going to laminate some sheets so I can write and rub out on top

Oooh handy monthly guide. I really need a Scottish one though, or leave things 3-4 weeks later. I was all hyped up for seeds etc yesterday but woke up to snow and a white garden.Still snowing and getting heavier. Back to reality !0

I'm really keen to get started too - and have been out in the garden for a wee bit this morning. Have pulled muscle in neck, so can't do a lot. Am buying some timber in the next few days to make raised beds out of in January. Then in February I'll fill them (soil & manure mix) then will plant seedlings when ready. Have loads of wintering onions in already, but will have to plant carrots, sprouts, tomatoes / beans and want to get my fruit trees out of their pots and into their fruit beds. Will be nice to have some sunny weather soon so we can all get out and about. xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I want to get started too! We moved last year so didn't get garden sorted in time, but this year i want to grow as much veg and fruit as possible.
I'm lucky in that my inlaws run a garden centre...so have everything at my fingertips. Just want it all in my garden and on my roof top now!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
I have ordered a storage bin for odds and ends and 2 compost bins in a sale so that will make 3 bins in a row as I already have 1. I have planted several comfrey (bocking 14) and will be looking to harvest the leaves from 2012 in order to add mega nutrients to my compost. The allotment soil is very heavy, sticky clay. The ideal would be to put a layer of manure down in late autumn and let the worms do the work but I don`t know where to get proper manure from
Anyway I think I will ask dh to make a very simple raised bed with pipe clips on the sides so I can slide my tunnel hoops in and make netting easier. I`ll be wanting to move it around but I`ll see what it is like as I go. Gravel boards will do it and 4 corner pieces so it can easily be dismantled. Probably 8x 4 or maybe smaller
These people have been superb re delivery, variety and prices. I have the aluminium hoops as they are what I bought first but I also have the green economy ones and they are the ones I want to slide into holders
