Flexible New Deal placement

Hi,

I'm on FND coming to the end of a year on it. Thinking the law would alter or find a way out of it for me my advisor only told me 2 weeks ago about the Mandatory Work placement for the 4 weeks .

I'm due to start on the 10th Jan at a recycling company they use as they struggle to get placements elsewhere . I would have liked to tout around possibly longer term places if i'd known a month or 2 earlier. Be nice to be kept on after.

My advisor and even the people who set it all up have said they'll be glad when its gone as its more hassle than its worth for them and it hinders job hunting time for a month.

I am a part time uni student and in final few months of my last degree year.
Jan into Feb will be my busiest few weeks at uni including group prep for a presentation so i need to be about really.
Tried getting a paid part time job to go alongside it as i went back to uni as couldn't get a full time one and won't waste a year but can't find much locally.

My advisor said i'm welcome to try a job elsewhere if i can get taken on in the short time he gave me . I need Friday afternoons free at a minimum for uni and the placement they use will only let me finish 30 mins before it starts and its other side of town . The company did though agree my degree is going to hopefully improve my chances and this placement is a bit of an obstacle .

Have a family friend whose a chartered surveyor and owns lots of properties and my mate used to work for him . I think he just manages his properties now but has premises etc. I don't know if he has an actual company name or how it works til i ask him.I'm fairly sure he'd take me on and i could fnd stuff to do and i can get free for uni.

Has anyone else had their own placement they chose? Wondering what checks they'll do into where i'm working if its just his name and address (or business address) .
They gave me a time sheet with list of duties and signed at end of 4 weeks by employee of company. Just wondered if i can put i'm working for him even if he isn't offically a company as he is a landlord and that his job technically. just wondered how stringent my provider will be especially as they agree me finishing uni needs to be priority currently.

Many Thanks

James
