Induction Hob problem- triggering switchbox

Hello

This evening I had a problem when cooking in the kitchen on Induction hob. Basically when I adjust the induction hobs temperature control the hob( and a few other electrical bits in house) turn off.

The RCD switch on the switch box is triggering off, once i switch this back on everything is OK again.

Have confirmed its the hob that is triggering it, consistancy seems to be off the most powerful ring on the hob so sounds like that is sending an excess current causing it to trip?

Is this repairable? Is it a switch issue or likely the hob thats broken?

Thanks

Rob

  • It's possible for an RCD to go faulty, but more likely it's responding to a momentary earth fault or a spike or interference from the hob. So the hob's the problem.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
