Norwich Union Simple Cover - Has anyone used them?

Options
I have a fully comp quote from them for £289 or £311 with Legal Cover.

How different is this insurance from the fully comp I currently get from Norwich Union?

Am I loosing out on something by going Simple?

The way I read Simple cover is its fully comp for your car, but I dont think your covered for your own medical expenses (if you had an accident I am ure you'd want to be fully covered for your medical cover and rehab)

I used confused.com Norwich union simple cover was the cheapest, but I went with RAC who were £10 more expensive but I thought there cover was better.

There are a number of standard "extras" on Comprehensive insurance that they may have stripped away (havent looked at the policy yet so cant confirm):

Driving other cars (allows you to drive any car not owned by you on a third party only basis - NU already stripped this from their policies sold through brokers)
    Courtesy car
Personal accident - pays you money for significant bodily injury irrespective of blame
Medical expenses - cost of medical treatment from an accident irrespective of liability
Personal effects - items you have in the vehicle
    Foreign use

As well as this also look for higher excess

    mmm, thank you both.

    I don't need a courtesy car.
    I don't go abroad.
I don't drive other cars on my insurance. (mother in law has me on her fully comp insurance)

And I pay the least voluntary excess allowed!

I want an insurance that will cover the personal and medical I think (never really thought about that)

If you come across anything else please let me know......I have to renew ready for the 5th!

Hi - believe the compulsory excess is £400-500 and definitely phone calls to them are 50p/min on 0906 number.

They are probably the most under used aspects of motor insurance - though the personal accident is the "lose a limb" type cover rather than things like whiplash (in non-fault accidents all injuries are claimable from the at fault party irrespective of what cover you have - if you have Legal expenses then your insurers will assist in the process, without it you have to deal with it yourself/ get a solicitor)

Check the excess - both the standard excess (make sure there isnt a compulsary excess on top of the voluntary) and also the set excess like for glass claims (and that they give you the seperate glass cover)

If you have another car in the household it may be worth looking at a "second car" type policy which they copy the NCD from the original vehicle across onto the second - I know that some of the RBS brands (Direct Line/ Privilege etc) certainly used to offer this even if your original vehicle isnt with them.

    Thats interesting about the NCD.
    We don't have a second car.....just 50cc scooter!
Had the bike from new in 2000 and never claimed for anything.

    Does that count??
