Default help???

Hi just wondering if anyone can clear something up for me
i have a default on my file and the red D Is showing on dec 2004 and it also says
Start date 04/04/2004
date last delinquent 01/05

So my question is when did the 6 years actually start from?

I sounds like the account was opened on 04/04/2004 and the default started in December 2005. The Experian Credit Report actually says when date the default was on though...
