Dental Insurance?

Hi,

Ive searched and can't find much about dental insurance and i just wondered what the best companies are for this please? Its for myself and my fiance and we haven't been to the dentist for a long time and thought we had better get dental insurance and start getting dental check ups.

If you have not been for regular check ups, you might find that Insurance won't cover you for anything they find when you first go. There are some schemes which are available through employers benefit schemes and independently where you pay a monthly fee, whereby Insurers will reimburse you for the cost of any dental work you have during the year. But I have a feeling you would need to read the small print re having regular check ups before and during the contract.

Your best bet is to register with a decent independent practice and join their Insurance scheme. You will have to pay for the costs of any immediate work, plus x-rays, but once you are declared dentally fit, they will enrol you into their Insurance scheme. Most will cover the cost of 6 monthly check ups plus hygiene work(deep clean) and all necessary work that you require.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Use the hints in my sig to find a practice.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
