  • I'd say to them "you've already been so kind to us that I just feel awkward taking more money off you! Even if it is in lieu of Christmas presents." See what they say. If they insist, take the Christmas money and save it to pay them back.

How long have you owed them this money? If it's a long time and they get arsey to you about money when they're skint, then I think paying them back should be a top priority if at all possible and maybe it would be an idea to sit down with them and work out a repayment plan of some kind.

Let them know you're still aware you owe them money!
  • I'd say "Thank you for the offer, but I would feel bad accepting money as a gift from you when I already owe you money". If they offer to take it off the money you owe them, accept graciously.

I would thank them but turn it down and say they have already been so generous already.

To avoid any problems in future why dont you set up a direct debit monthly to their account. Pay it back at a level and speed that is okay to both of you.
