Credit Card rate on the up!

Hi,
New to this but just wondered if anyone can help me.
Few years ago i went on a debt plan to pay off a Barclaycard debt where
the debt company agreed with Barclaycard to be paid off at a reduced rate.
I have religiously paid £50 a month since then.
I have now moved house and do not have anything to do with the debt
management company anymore but have however kept up payments to
Barclaycard.
Barclaycard have now sent me a letter saying that as they have not received any correspondence from the DMC they assume my circumstances have changed and will now revert the rate back to the standard rate.
I have managed to get the debt to under £2000 but this new rate will now mess it all up.
I have heard you can ask B/card to reduce the rate, is this true??
Any ideas on this would be grateful.
Thanks

My hubby called Barclaycard before New Year & told them he was struggling to make payments since they put his rate up from 14.9 to 16.9 without telling him & after speaking to a UK based person they agreed to put the rate back to 14.9 & also instead of paying 2%(2. something) per month he can go on to a plan where he only pays 1%(1. something) They said he could still use his card like normal. Not sure of the exact rates, but it was something like what Ive said.

HI, not sure what you mean but Ive just called BC myself & got my rate changed. Ive got a classic ac with them. My rate has gone from 16.9% back to 14.9% & instead of paying 2.25% back each month I now have to pay 1.5%.Do you mind me asking what barclaycard has give you 14.9% APR?

I also heard it in a news headlines for reduction in the rates. I suggest you to try it in websites giving financial assistance.0

Apart from the simplicity card they do,all the rest of their APR's start at 16.9%.0 -

A couple of years ago their platinum, one pulse, and flexi-rate cards had a standard APR of 14.9%.
Now they are higher, but these posters probably held their accounts for several yearsCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks for all the replys, the rate I was paying
Was 0.5% because this was determined by an agreement
Between bc and the debt company. Not sure what the
New rate will be as yet but the letter said it will revert to
Normal rate, probably 16.9%. Will give them a call and
Keep you all posted.0 -
