ntl /digital TV

hi all
I'm a newbie on this board and thought I'd save myself some money by switching to ntl digital package (broadband,telephone and tv for £30) saving myself £17 pm. already have the broadband and phone so they came and put in the box on tuesday, have I been enjoying the delights of bid up tv? uk gold? QVC?.........NO!, all I get is BBC1, 2,ITV and channel 4, rest of it comes up 'you have not subscribed to this channel' um yes I have it says in my contract. So instead of the 40 channels I have been paying for for 2 days I get 4!. my vent is trying to get through to ntl is like not using our overdraft i.e impossible!, I have literally been on hold for 2 long days! have tried to email, but they said I need to call. even have the supervisiors mobile no. which would be great if it was switched on!:mad: . Has anyone else had this problem? and if so how did you get it resovled?. I am thinking of sending a message by carrier pigeon, it would probably get there quicker

    Didn't the guys who installed it check the TV channels while they were there?

  • yep, he said it takes a while for the service to 'kick in' and leave it an hour then call if its not come on, that was tuesday at 8.30am. he got up the bbc chanels, itv and channel 4 but nothing else but he said that was normal for a new service, in hindsight I think he was new cos he kept looking at the instructions and I had to show him which one was the scart lead (and I'm so not up on technical things)

    NTL staff assist posters on the forums and may be able to look into the issue without the need to be holding on the phone for an eternity. Don't be nasty with them though - they are the few people who understand and care about customer issues, and not merely about hitting their own targets.

  • Have you actually just tried unplugging the box from the mains and then plugging it back in? I was told to do that by the bloke who fitted it if it didn't pick up the channels within 24hrs

  • if you have ntl phone can ring 150 straight thru to customer services. They changed it recently but haven't advertised it as think they prefer people to use 0845 ...... (can use 151 for faults)

    also if you complain chances of credit on account.

    thanks for your replys, finally got through after 3 days on hold, being transferred to various 'help' staff and generally losing the will to live:mad: , a very nice young chap asked me to read the number on the back of the card (no one before had asked me to do this) and lo and behold he informed me they hadn't switched the box on their end!. I have complained as was advised by chap as the 'engineer' shouldn't have left the house until 5 channels had come through, he left when all i had was bbc1,2,itv1.
    So we shall see what happens (probably nothing). But I'm now enjoying the delights of ironside, last of the summer wine and gems live! (why did I have digital put in?:confused: )
