Tesco Credit Card

Thanks for all the input chaps. In fairness 3K would probably suffice as would only use for the yearly holiday!
I will have a chat with my Bank to see what they offer as just realised one of my best mates is a Financial advisor with them:(!
One other thing when these cards atate '0% finance for 12 months'. Is this from acceptance/receipt of card or on 1st purchase? I only ask as whilst i may aquire the card for now i might not require a purchase for a few months at least.
Again thanks all!0 -
I don't know but it seems reasonable for them to ask westions that help them build a picture of your financial suitability.Person_one wrote: »I've just started to apply online for the 0% Tesco card but was a bit put off when they asked for my bank details? Is that normal?
The total amount of available credit and the total amount of credit used can both affect the CC company's assessment of your suitability. The number of cards you have is less important but might possibly have some influence.I think I have a good credit rating, but does having several cards affect it?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

From acceptance (or rather from a date close to the acceptance date but might be before or after by some number of days but definitely not from first use.)loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

That's more than twice all my credit card limits put together. My first card was the Tesco Clubcard credit card. I'm sure you can infer from this that the limit is quite low.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -
Its a good idea to opt for a new company's credit card because they charge less credit rate on your credit. You should go for the tesco card or firstly consult a credit assistance websites.0

As far as my memory serves every single credit card asked me this question on their application.0 -

Yep, perfectly normal, I've never gone through a credit card application that doesn't ask for one.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I've certainly applied for cards where I've not had to given bank details. Of course some have a space for your details which is if you want to pay by DD, ie optional.
Frankly the odd search isn't a problem. If the OP wants to go for Tesco, then go for Tesco. If no cigar, then go for one of the "starter" type cards.
I really think people can be too dogmatic about these things. Nobody really knows the lending criteria of CC companies - and besides it changes all the time.0
