Argos - can i return an item?

hi there - i bought my daughter some gifts ready for christmas on 9th sept - and put them away for christmas ( they had 3 for 2 deal on) and on opening her 'doodle daisy' christmas day it diddnt work! - so i still have the box receipt etc but its past the 30 day return policy - but even though it was ony a tenner its still something my daughter cannot use? and its only now things are back to normal i can think of sorting small things like this lol - thanks in advance for any help -

If its broken.just take it back for a swap. They should be fine with that.0
