Credit Card Balance - Egg Card

Maybe someone can give me an insight to the following:

I have an Egg Card account which was closed by them in one of their culls of accounts and I'm paying it off. I can see from my monthly statements that I being charged at two rates of interest, one for merchandise and one for cash advance.

So in an attempt to understand how much longer it will take to pay off the card under the new banking rules of paying off the higher interest rate first etc, I called Egg to ask what the split of the current balance was, ie. Purchases/Cash Advances.

The conversation was along the lines:

Me: How much to I still owe you split into purchases/cash advances
Egg: We don't know
Me: Pardon? You're the card company you should know what the split is as you're charging the interest rates.
Egg: It's all automated we don't have that information and it would take us too long to work it out for you now.

So it appears (according to the call centre) that I owe them money but they don't seem to be able to really tell how much other than a total balance on a screen which I can see when logging into the Egg Account from home.

The other thing that was interesting was that my Account online was showing the last monthly statement value as was the automated voice system but in talking to the call centre they can already see that a direct debit has been paid to the account. I wonder which figure they're actually working out daily interest payments on now...mmm...
