Private ticket Advice needed

Went to the local shoppinng centre for the sales and as to be expected the place was packed so i noticed a car parked on some very rought looking double yellows. I pulled up behind him and was gone about 10 mins. I must add i did not block any entrance or obstruct any ramps etc. I returned to a ticket from UKPC telling me that i had parked on double yellows £35 in 14 days or £70 in 28 days. The car behind had one to but the car in front displayed a disabled badge so did not have a ticket. I took some pictures of the bad yellow lines just incase. I know the general advice on here is ignore this and they will go away in the end but, if they do let it go to a debt recovery agency and still ignore it will this go against my credit rating as a bad debt? I have had problems with my credit in the past and it has taken me ages to sort and dont want to jeopordize that for a £35 fine. The other thing is on the ticket it says you can appeal before you pay and if lost still pay the reduced rate as long as done within 14 days. Is this worth bothering with or just a formality to try and get the money from you? All help is appreciated.

Thanks Mike

Best place for that invoice is in the bin, it is an unenforceable invoice for a contract they have deemed you to have accepted, and they are best ignored best option is to read the stickys on this page, especially crabmans sticky.gif Sticky: ● Welcome *PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING*

The only way it can affect your credit record is for all of the following to happen:
    a) they issue a court claim
    b) they win the case
    c) you do not pay the judgement within 28 days

Since none of that will happen, let alone all three, you are perfectly safe to ignore everything they send you

Only credit accounts can be marked on your credit file. As no such credit account has been opened then they can not place a marker on your CRF.

Read the sticky as advised but best policy is to ignore!
  • Thanks for the help. What about the veiled threat of forwarding it to a debt recovery agency and thier costs, Will i be liable for these if they do pass it over?

Debt agency is usually the next desk to the left. Then solicitors which is on the right. Their letters carry the same power as the invoice Nil just add them to the pile.

Without a county court judgment, to confirm a consequential loss of £0 for parking, no debt as such exists merely an invoice which has as much legal standing as a mailshot from a double glazing company.

  • Do not contact them at all and as others have stated ignore all the so called serious threats they will inevitably send you.

If you relax a little it all gets rather amusing and you look forward to receiving their next bit of guff.
