Open Office

Some time back, via somebody on MSE, I got into Open Office. I've found it useful on the odd occasion to open something I couldn't otherwise but I've got into a mess this morning! I just love my Notepad facility (MS XP) but I opened one today (an important record) and it was the usual gobbledegook with just little bits I could decipher. I used some aspect of OO to convert it to something I could read and now ALL my Notepads have been converted and I don't like the text and layout - and I want my old set-up back!

Is there a simple way of doing it without losing my records (I've got millions of Notepads!)? I suppose uninstalling might be one route but would my Notepads revert to how they were or not, and is there any risk of losing them altogether?

I'd be very grateful.

Try opening My Documents or where ever your notepad files are stored then right click one and select "open with" and then "choose program" now select notepad or your preferred program and then tick, always use the selected program to open this kind of file then OK, and that should re-associate the files with the proper program.
