Do people actually buy decorations every year? :o

I've bought stocking fillers and other little gifts - like barbies, smellies from The Body Shop, Jasper Conran dressing gown, etc. Things that can't go wrong!

Should've cost over £100, and I got it for a little over £30. I do that most years with the 'Santa' presents. Makes sense to me :)
  • As my kids are small and my ex had kids before he was with me I got into the habit of picking up little bits all year round - eg stocking fillers from the party section of the supermarket when they are reduced can get for 30% of marked price, also pick up clothes for next size up and put away til kids grow into them they have not yet complained but I realise this will get harder as they get older. Managed to get a load of stuff just before christmas last year vastly reduced which did this year and have bought more stuff over this year so I now have almost all of next years presents for my kids, also still have cards and wrapping paper from last few years but have managed to get some long rolls paper for 50p each do not buy new decorations often but reuse all the time and kids enjoy seeing same stuff usually use sales to pick up DVDs and 'girlie' gifts too will not need to do much this year which is just as well as not sure if I will have much income so this was partly planned!
  • I got a couple of multi packs of 20 Christmas cards for 50p instead of £2 from Marks and Spencer. I also got a couple of ‘Special’ cards from there too, again, 50p instead of £2 – or a 75% discount which is pretty good, I’ve bundled them away with a couple of left over bits I have.

From Asda, I always get their ‘Smart Price’ wrapping paper as it just gets ripped off and it’s 14p a roll for 2m. This year I was buying some De-Icer or something in Asda and saw them putting their ‘sale’ Christmas goodies out and the Smart Price stuff was reduced to 3p a roll! I bought 5 rolls plus a couple of the extra wide stuff for my nephew’s Christmas pressies they were reduced from £2 to 32p for 8m in a lovely suitable-for-all pattern. I had a couple of roll ends of wrapping paper left at home too. In Asda I managed to get between 75% - 80% discount so I was pretty made up.

I appreciate that in January (or even December) the last thing people want to think about is the next Christmas, but if they did, it would be one less thing to worry about when the big day arrives.:)

I have! I always start in the january sales! So far I have got most of the family and friends christmas presents, all my daughters presents for her b-day in March, and a good start of all three of their christmas pressies! As 2 of mine have birthdays right near christmas I have to get bits as I see them.

I have plenty of decorations and wrapping paper so very rarely need to stock up on those, and I don't understand how you can buy next Christmases prezzies now - not if you want to actually buy gifts people actually want and need.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

    Easy!

My son loves lego, so I buy the lego sets 1/2 price! My eldest daughter has a list as long as her arm of smellies and perfumes she likes! My other daughter collects sylvanian. All those bits I know have a long life with them, not the sort of things they'll ''go off'', and I know they'll like them! Plus they get more because I have a set budget and these things are between 50-70% off! Same goes for alot of the family gifts! Alot of the things I got are definatley things people in my family would like, want, need or all 3! I woulnd't buy them if they didn't ;)
