Hi,
I was having problems connecting to the net today.I turned the router & pc tower off to see if that would work. When I powered them back up the tower would not restart & the power light now flashes green rather than been a constant green.Any ideas.
I cannot get a net connection through the normal source either.I have had to use Open zone to post this up.

Normally, a flashing light indicates that the PC is in sleep mode. It may be having problems coming out, so what I'd do is unplug and plug it back in...then see if it starts up

it sounds like the psu has had it.

they are relatively easy and cheap to replace.

do you have the confidence to do it yourself?

there is a handy little guide here:

If the light is flashing where do you think its getting power from? very early to declate OP needs to go buy a new PSU that may or may not be part of the problem at all.....
  • my sons pc is doing the same at the minute, i have to unplug the motherboard and another plug then reinsert them......if the pc then gets switched off at the mains i have to do it again....

The PC is a Compaq Presario,SR 1609 UK.The PSU is a BESTEC ATX 300 127V-7A.I've opened the PC up & thought about changing the PSU myself but I'm not sure what the score is on all the coloured wires are that lead off it.Would I be ok just to follow then through & unplug them?

I doubt 300 watt will be good enough now to power a PC, I think you will find when you get it will start and stop as its not powerful enough.

I think it would be ok as its had a 300w in for the last five years. The ebuyer one looks a match.

it is a simple change to do. simply unplug the old one and then plug in the new one.

very easy and almost impossible to connect things up incorrectly
