Hi
Due to move to Germany soon and wondered what people advise on car insurance and travel insurance. Do you go through the NAFFI, German insurers or are there companies in the uk that cover it too..
Thank you

The's a few threads on BFG insurance there. In my experience when I was out there, stay well clear of NAAFI insurance as they are a rip off.

We used Forces Financial for everything and they were the most reasonable for us, but everyones circumstances are different so I would get a few quotes.0

Unfortunately there are only a small number of Insurance firms that we are allowed to use here in Germany, this inevitably means that you will end up paying considerably more for the same level of cover that you've already got for your car.
As samm1551 says get as many quotes as you can before deciding which to take.
As for travel insurance, you should be able to stick to the same company you've already got, we've got an annual policy with Trinity at a very reasonable rate (however as always shop around a bit first).0 -
I used TF InsuranceSealed Pot Challenge member #982
In 2012 I pledge to:- Save £1 a day, meal plan, be more organised, have NSDs, set myself a budget AND STICK TO IT, throw all loose change into Sealed Pot and not open it till 29th November.:money:0 -
We are with Forces Financal, Cheaper than TFI and Naafi. We have a golf GTI and insurance was a very exspensive quote with the latter companies, over a grand for 2 drivers with over 7 years worth of no claims bonus's. You can always obtain a quote before hand and they take payment from english bank! the website is: http://www.forcesfinancial.co.uk/military/insurance/motor-insurance-uk.aspxKim0

I will say that I had to claim when I was in Germany, and Forces Financial were brilliant throughout the whole process. (Should say I am not in any way employed by them - personal experience only).0

When he arrives in Germany, he will be given paperwork containing the list of approved car insurers. Make sure he gets quotes with as many as possible as they concentrate on different types of drivers so prices do vary. He will need to make sure he is armed with proof of no-claims as the Germans are v strict with that.0
