AXA Car insurance - auto renewal :-(

I've just discovered that AXA auto renewed my policy, overdrawing the account which they took payment from.

Are they allowed to do this? Where do I stand with getting a full refund? I no longer have the car (part ex it on the renewal day)

Every insurer does this, it will be stated in your policy. If they didn't do this how many drivers would just forget to renew and drive around uninsured?

No doubt you will need to pay their cancellation fee to get a refund, get calling as soon as possible I'd say.

Didn't you "discover it" when reading your renewal letter when it says what you should do next if you do or do not wish to renew?

Yes. As long as its in the terms and conditions and clearly shown on the renewal letter.

Provide them with evidence that you sold the car (and the date) and get them to cancel it ASAP.
