I have got a 300 gig hard drive with about 50 gig left on it. I am thinking of buying a new 300/320/400 gig hard drive. Firstly can i connect another hard drive to my pc ?. Also will transfering files and folders be an easy job to do ?. My main issue is to tranfer the files and back them up before something happens to my pc. At the moment i get pop ups which cant get blocked, really irratating also some times everything goes blank. No desktop no toolbar at bottom nothing at all. I end up doing Ctrl. Alt and del then new task and typing in explorer. Its about time i backed up my files. thanks in advance

Hi Shohaib
You have a couple of options. If you know your way around the inside of a pc then its fairly simple to fit and connect a second internal drive, as long as you have room in there of course. There's lots of good easy to follow advice on the net about it, look here for basic instructions.
Your second option is to buy an external hard drive, these plug into a USB port on your pc and your pc will simply 'find' the drive and you'll be ready to use it. This is a more expensive option though. The above link has some information on this type too.
Good luck!
edit: regarding file transfer, once either drive is connected you'll be able to view the drive in windows explorer just like you can your current one. It's easy to drag the files from one folder to the other then, whichever drive theyre on. Hope that makes sense

The other things to make sure of are a free power connector, and a free and accessible connector on the Bus cable, for the new internal drive. You may have to buy a Y-splitter for the power cable, and a new bus cable if it isn't long enough or the plugs are in the wrong place.
Also, are you sure that your PC's power supply can handle an additional internal hard drive?

If going for an external HDD try to make sure it's USB 2.0 which provides a much higher data transfer rate of USB 1.1. Hopefully you're pc has USB 2.0. If it has firewire you could try that.0

It sounds like you also need to clean your computer of any malware (spyware, trojans, etc.) that you may have on there. The pop-ups and general flakiness of your pc may be an indication of such.
Read this thread for help on clearing these pests from your PC- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0
