NPower Sign Online 20 questions
Hi, I'm looking at saving some money this year and have looked on Uswitch and the other various sites to see what other deals are out there.
In all of them, Npowers Sign Online 20 came top with a saving of £188 on my yearly bill. However the Sign Online 20 is only at the current rate until 31/12/2011 and I've just read it takes a couple of months to switch.
Does anyone know if I were to sign up now, is it a 12 month contract from the date I sign up and I'd pay the same monthly price for 12 month duration, irrespective of the 31/12/2011 change?
Or the prices of Sign Online 20 would run until 31/12/2011 and I'd still be in contract after that date and they would then charge me at the standard rate that it changes to?
Thanks!

You know it's going to change, so stop fantasy bargaining, had you have checked uswitch last week, it would have been showing 1st utlity as the top saver, re-enter your figures on uswitch 'pretending' you are with npower already and see which comes out top, as via that site it seems to show anything as long as the customer will make a switch0

It is not a fixed price tariff, ie not fixed until 31 12 2011, it is only guaranteed to be 2% lower than their Standard offline tariff. So if the standard tariff increases then so could SoL20 and indeed even now SoL20 could increase as long as it does not go above the 2% discount.
The second point is that your payments are governed by the amount of gas/electric you use, they are not necessarily a fixed amount, if npower find you are not paying enough to cover the power used they will increase the monthly payments.
What will happen after 31 12 2011? Well if past npower history is repeated then you will get a massive increase, possibly to their standard tariff.0 -
I didn't realise it wasn't a fixed price tariff. Thanks for clarifying it. I think I'll see what my current provider can offer me.
Thanks for your help.0 -
Hi Ducey,
I’m afraid that npower’s Sign Online 20 has been pulled and replaced with Sign Online 21, which is more expensive. You’ll need to do another comparison to find out which is now the cheapest tariff. If you do a comparison with uSwitch, you can select to see fixed price tariffs only when you get the results page, so you can be sure which ones are fixed and which ones aren't.
Hope this helps.

in regards to this post.
if you signed up on new years eve when it was still advertised on their website, will you still get it or do they now not honour it0 -
I was on Npower's winter rate last year....when it ended I changed to Online 20 saved £10 a month on the D/D right away.
It's true that it's not (unfortunately) a fixed rate but at least its 2% lower than most + a discount for D/D, they even sent me a Smartpower monitor so I can see what we are spending by the our!!!..the lower Tariff is 9.45p per KWH...works out spending about £1.35 every 24hrs....all depends if the wife decides it's washday!
It's amazing how much lecky things use ....Computer is 3p pKWH Kettle 26p!!
Sorry you have missed the Online 20..but keep looking!!!
Shame you can't get a monitor for the Gas!!!..or can you????0 -

Hi Ducey,
On the resuts page there are tabs along the top of the table, and you're after the one that says 'Fixed or capped'.
There's a diagram showing you where to find it, along with some more info here.

If that's the plan you signed up for, that's the plan you'll get! It was only removed from the market yesterday, so if you switched on NYE you shold be fine

Thanks Lauren, that explains why I can't see that tab for Fixed or Capped Plans! There aren't any in my area.0
