What to look for when buying?
Got an Auris 1.3 and father has Avensis 1.8
My father didn't drive his car for a few weeks during the snow and the battery went flat
Borrowed a charger from a friend which had 6/12V options - but both cars have 12V batteries IIRC - seems like a handy thing to have
also father has taken to starting car for a few minutes every few days just incase - but I read this is not good and you should drive it for a few miles?

CTEK 3600 leave it connected all year long if you want, do not need to disconnect battery from car, or if you can fnd one on offer one of the Lidl or Aldi smart chargers, work just as well (switching and controls suspiciously identical to the CTEK;) and about a third the price.0

You read right, a few mins is nowhere near enough to recharge the power used to start the car.
I won't even go into the damage it can cause to the engine.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Needs 30 minutes of running to restore the 'charge' taken out so I believe
Ctek charger as stated above are very good.0 -

Indeed, I have the Lidl version, it does appear to be very similar to the CTEK one, it cost £12.99.0 -

Make sure you get there early then MSU, they won't be on the shelves for long, oh and if they have some of their excellent screen wash get that too, beats the hell out of most of the rubbish on sale elsewhere.0
