Cheap and easy hosting package?

CraftyHen

Hopefully someone here can help me. I'd like to set up a little website for the purposes of fun and affiliate marketing. Can someone recommed a cheap and easy package? I was looking at the 123reg starter package with free instantsite software, it's £2.49 per month. Anyone used them or can recommend something else? I've never set up a website before so I'd like it to be easy, and doubt I will make much so as cheap as possible would be good.

Cheers in advance.

Thanks fortyfoot!:) Does it matter that I'm not a business?

try tsohost.com if you google for a voucher code there is one knocking about that gives you £35 off their £50 a year premium package. I used it about 6 weeks ago and it went through fine... more info on this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2912872=

have a look at hostgator, I use them and do some affiliate marketing with sites on the baby plan. They have a quick install of wordpress available which is very good for simple websites with good seo for Aff marketing.

I used to use 123reg for my personal site and business. To be totally honest I found them a terrible host. The site was constantly down, email configuration was a complete pain and the support was rude, arrogant and completely ineffective. I wasn't new to this either, I've been in the trade a long time and over the 18 months or so I was with them I needed to contact their support 2 or 3 times a week.

I'm now with evohosting and even though they're a little more expensive (only by a pinch) than some other hosts you get exactly what you pay for (and double if you pay biennial). The site tools are fantastic and easy to use. Completely straight-forward and the support is outstanding. There is a live server status update on their site and frequent manual updates from their team. Definitely worth checking out.

I use http://www.000webhost.com/ for free hosting if they are small businesses which are no more than a handful of static web pages. I have also just signed one business up for 123-reg. Only did this about a month ago so I hope it continues to be ok. I have never noticed an issue with 000webhost but the sites are not hit hard as they are only small local businesses. May as well give them a go as they are free and do the job.

Another vote for Microsoft here, and no, it does not make a difference if you are a small business or private website.

I have used this free service for years. Unfortunately, they are getting rid of it later this year and replacing it with "Microsoft Office 365" at $6 per month.

One of my friends uses eHosting.com I think and doesn't seem to have any problems with them.

I use 34sp and pay £20 per year. Bundles have changed and the basic is £3.95 month. Also use webtapestry.net and their basic price is £30 per year so if your site is not traffic hungry or needs loads of storage it's a good starting point.
