Energy Saving GU10 Bulbs

Has anyone seen any retailer selling either the Low Energy or LED GU10 Light bulbs as I would like to get hold of 3 for the ceiling fan in the bedroom but I dont want to order them online or through Ebay because of the risk of me getting a box full of smashed glass when they arrive.

I have tried the major places like Wilkinsons, B&Q etc but with no luck.

You won't get smashed glass from any of the reputable bulb / lamp internet firms. Have ordered a lot of specialist bulbs (seems every light has it's own requirement these days) - with no duds or breakages.

I use this company for electrical stuff - never solely for bulbs except when with a light fitting - and they're pretty good. Would you like red / green / blue / yellow or plain old white in the bedroom? Or even the one that changes through red to green to blue - automatically  :-

Watch that their only irritation is the prices are shown ex-VAT.

could these be mixed with non energy saving for downlighters.

The house we bought has a grand total of 24 x 50w GU10 bulbs and it frankly scares me to turn them on when I think of the electric bills

Can't see why not - provided you've not got them on a dimmer. Presumably you'd replace them over time, as the current ones blew?

But probably cheaper to shell out for 10 -20 to start off (and replace the 50w's as they go) - as the unit cost should be cheaper in bulk. Except just noticed the TLC ones have an error with the price of the white ones? Don't believe it's cheaper unit cost to buy one than 3+ !!

  • Well I found them in a lighting shop in the next town when I was over their with friends £6.99 each for those "Megaman" bulbs and i am pretty impressed as the the light output is somewhere in the middle between 35w and 50w and while I wasnt happy at the price I punched the calculator and the energy savings mean that the 3 I bought should have paid for themselves over the winter.
  • We got ours from WIlkinsons.

You cant have, Wilkinsons don't sell them, I even e-mailed there customer services department to ask if they would be inculuded in the energy saving range and I was told they would be added in the next range review.

I just bought 20x 21 white LED GU10s for £60, including P+P and Delivery. That's £3 each which is the cheapest I have seen. I haven't received them yet but when If you want the details PM me and I'll let you know how they are when they arrive.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
