It is very likely and having completed the sessions you should hopefully now be in a position to start thinking about going back to work.
  • I would have thought that a medical wouldnt be triggered by the end of the 6 sessions
  • It is possible in that even though the pathways has taken 6 weeks to complete, it may be months since the last assessment. As the minimum is 3 months before review, it is quite possible that a further assessment may take place within a short period of time from now.
It obviously depends on what ATOS have suggested in their report to the DWP as being the anticipated review period.

    No, the two are unrelated.

Did you look into the Condition Management Programme any further?
    Gone ... or have I?

    Hello,

Err no, it doesn't work like that at all!

You have been placed in the Work group because it was thought by the ATOS assessor/DWP that with some help, you should be able to get back into work.
That is the reason for the Pathways initiative.

If you were however considered to be so ill/disabled that work was out of the question, then the DWP would have put you straight into the Support group. In the Support group, you are not required to complete the Pathways programme.

So in your case, you will complete the programme, and hopefully will be better motivated to get back into work even though you may have a continuing illness/disability which can be controlled.

The reason for the review assessment is to establish how far along the road you are as being ready for work. If they find that you are ready, the DWP will suggest that you claim JSA instead and get help with finding work.
You do of course have the option of appealing against that new decision if you feel that you aren't quite ready and the DWP say that you are. In which case you will have to provide independent medical evidence to counter what the DWP believe to be the case based on the medical that they have provided you with.

Hi yes i looked into CMP in depth and came to the decission that is was not for me. It was more for people who have MH or for those in pain trying to manage it.
Still no reply to my question what happens if after the 6 weeks you are not ready to look for work.

After the 6 mandatory Work Focussed interviews, you will not have to attend any more. You will continue to receive ESA as long as you are entitled.

You may be recalled for another medical assessment at some stage, but that happens to all claimants, whether they are in the Work Related Activity Group or the Support Group.

I am surprised that you talk of them being done in 6 weeks though. When I had mine, they were a month apart.

EDIT - just noticed that you've been on ESA for more than 18 months - I guess you meant that the last WFI will be done in 6 weeks time.

As I understand it, you can continue on a voluntary basis. But maybe that has stopped now.

As a matter of interest, when would you think you may be ready to consider going back to work?
