They're based in Germany, all the prices appear to be in Euros, shipping costs are extra starting from 29 Euros and if your product develops a fault you won't be covered by SOGA. So you'll need to check up on German consumer law.

  • Hi there.

I was trying to start a thread like this one to ask about Ankermann PC but failed (can't find a way to start a new thread, anyone can tell me how?). I am glad that somebody else did ask the same question.

There is one interesting thing about the shipping cost of this company. At one point I put two base units into one order and do a unconfirmed check out. Guess what? The shipping cost is still 29 Euros for credit card payments! :T

However I do have concerns about buying direct from Germany. The only cover that I have got will be from my credit card company if things goes horribly wrong. Since we are in the European union, are we not covered by EU consumer law?

Perhaps I should pay more and purchase the computer from Amazon UK MarketPlace (Ankermann charges pounds there + more expensive shipping cost of >£35) and claim it off Amazon if things goes horribly wrong. Or, I should purchase it via Ankermann eBay shop and claim it off PayPal if ...................:(

    Any advice?
