Kitchen Appliances, best place to buy?

This has probably been asked loads of times, so I apologise in advance.

We're hoping to get a new kitchen put in very soon (nearly made a final decision as to which units). We've been thinking that we can probably source the appliances at better prices ourselves rather than buying from the kitchen supplier. I wonder if anyone has any tips as to who would be good to buy from and who to avoid!

We need to get a 5 burner gas hob, a double oven, an extractor fan and a built-in dishwasher.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

I asked about this a few days ago. Got the best price from appliancecity.co.uk. They seemed very good on the phone but can't comment pst that as only ordered a couple days ago. Gave them a list of my items and told them the lowest price for each one that I found online which they matched and also are also holding them till March as I don't want them yet. Appliance warehouse had come out cheapest on kelkoo for most of the items I wanted, but if I ordered all the items through them they were about £100 more expensive than appliance city, they brought the price down a bit when I called them, but they were still £15 over appliance city and also wouldn't hold the item for more than 6 weeks.

    Hi,

My advice would definitely be - get the appliances and everything from your kitchen supplier, as you are far better off having just one company responsible for everything. If your kitchen supplier is more expensive for the appliances than online companies for 'like for like' models then I would suggest you may be better going to another kitchen supplier!

As an independent kitchen design company we are always cheaper than online retailers for appliances and if a customer came to me with cheaper online prices, then I see no reason why we couldn't match them, but I can't remember the last time this happened!

    Good luck.
  • Your company always sounds so good CK, do you have a website? Maybe you could do my kitchen.

My advice is buy the best you can afford. John Lewis are expensive but worth the customer care afterwards. I am not saying you are rubbish CKdesigner but have seen many people really regret buying from the same place as they bought their kitchens. Of course if you are buying from an independent Kitchen company and having a bespoke kithen - at the higher end, there will be more play in the quality.
  • I bought all my Siemens appliances from Ebay.
Best combined online price = £3200
    I paid £2050.

All of them have full Siemens warranty.
  • Thanks for all the replies, that's great.

We're not buying "high end", just normal really (want something that looks good, without costing a fortune). ;)

Will definitely have a look at the sites and see what they've got. John Lewis are good too, have had electrical items from them before (but not kitchen appliances).

Ebay is another good place, which I oddly didn't think of. Not sure why as I've bought lots of things there.

Thanks again, will get on with my research.

I'm glad you are not saying 'I am rubbish'!!!

Goodness, definitely not. I am leaning more towards high street kitchens which, as hubs and nearly all of his friends are 'old school' craftsmen, they have seen a lot of 'rubbish' and they would definitely recommend that people source their own, with the significant guarantees.
