sainsburys gift cards warning

I am just glad that a few other people are now checking their gift cards. I accept the fact that Sainsburys can't store the details indefinitely, but they still shouldn't be able to just keep the money. I believe that you should be able to return the gift card to them and get a new one issued.
I was lucky in that I could afford to pay for the goods and that I wasn't totally dependent on the gift cards to pay at the checkout.

The giftcards are redeemable if they are expired you just need to write into sainsburys and they will reissue a new card with the funds, the same thing happened to me last year, the lady I spoke to was able to tell me the exact balance, what date it expired and what address to write into. Not meaning to sound doubtful of your experience but every time I have spoken to sainsburys whether in store or over the telephone they've been more than helpful, different people have different experiences I guess. I'd try again
