From the OP's description of the notice sticker ON the building, it sounds more like its from the gas board, usually if they've done some major work to the communal supply they like to go in and test the pressure in properties that may have been affected and they won't turn the supply on at the house until they can. I've never heard of a gas engineer sticking a notice on a property for a landlord's gas safety inspection.

This has happened to someone I know who was working full time and wasnt there during the day! I also had a HA property for a while and had a notice stuck on my door because I wasnt there for the smoke alarm testing and they had attempted 2 previous visits although I told them I worked full time!

the property will have had an electrical installation cert issued during void works, but gas is usually capped off until the property is occupied again and then uncapped. The annual gas safety check is an entirely separate issue, and the engineer will leave a sticker or notice after failed attampts to complete it. The HA have resources that they will be using, ultimately serving an NSP and forcing entry to complete the safety check. It does seem somewhat nosey to me, and having reported it to the HA I don't see that there is much else for the OP to do, other than calm down a little. HAs take gas safety checks very seriously, they are a legal requirement, and occupancy or otherwise of a property is not a straightfoward matter to deal with.

Strangely enough...it's actually the Housing Association itself that's placed the warning sticker on the door.

...in which case they *know* and will be dealing with it.

Let's hope so. It's been there over a week now and still no sign of anyone coming to the house to check the gas supply. Surely the first thing they'd do is remove the sticker if they had carried out the check.

It's not that straightforward. If they have to serve an NSP that involves court documents and bailiffs.

In this instance, the housing officials seem a bit lax to me. If the paper work is OK they maybe resting on their laurels. The money comes out of OUR taxes. Some people on the housing list are desperate for a place but others are good at scamming them. I think you are right to want this investigated.

Oh my god, get some perspective. It's really noone's business but the Association and the occupants.

Now that we're on to talking about "OUR taxes", I think that a strongly worded letter to the Daily Mail with a feature photo of the local taxpayers pointing to the flat is the only way forward....
