Auracall, Yourcalls.net, DirectSave Packages - Any Good?

Hi All

Following a New Year's resolution to put our financial affairs in order, we’re looking to move away from our expensive BT (line rental) +TalkTalk (calls) packages to a more sensible combined Line & Calls package.

Following some research on USwitch, it seems to suggest that Auracall Anytime, YourCalls, net Anytime and DirectSave option 3 are very competitive, offering free local & national landline calls (at all times), free (or mostly free) 0845 and 0870 calls (at all times) and pretty competitive mobile rates (Auracall being the best, then DirectSave, then YourCalls). BT Unlimited Anytime, Sky Talk Unlimited and Talk Talk UK Anytime also appear on the list but appear to be less good value when all types of calls (UK Landline, UK mobile and 0845/0870) are taken into account.

Apart from their own web sites, there doesn’t appear to be too much independent info about any of these three providers and since I have never heard of Auracall, Yourcalls.net and DirectSave, does anybody here know anything about them and/or what the quality of their offerings is like?

All thoughts very welcome

Thankyou

Rather than reinventing the wheel, I'd suggest starting with the site guide to telephony money saving.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Yes, there's a lot of good stuff there (and on your link) and, TBH, we do a fair bit of that, already. However, bottom line is that, these days, it should be relatively easy to get free local & national landline 'anytime plus free 0845/0870 'anytime' plus good mobile rates from a combined package and that's what we're looking for. Hence the request for any feedback re Auracall, DirectSave and YourCalls. For example, Primus was also mentioned but based on your link and other comments here, Customer Service appears somewhat hit and miss (so they're a no-no)

You will almost always find that cheap means poor service.

TalkTalk no longer offers free international call with their Anytime line rental package...and their customer support is rubbish and i pay a lot for my phone bill with TalkTalk - I have to disagree with you Inactive!

Avoid Auracall as their landline deal is terrible value. They have it in the small print that their option 4 only allows 700 inclusive call minutes. Yet their website misleads you by comparing their prices with BT and TalkTalk who allow unlimited minutes in their call allowance.

They start charging for their call package even before your line is switched to them!

Customer service chooses to answer or not emails. They answer easy emails and ignore difficult ones!

I am now stuck with them for 12 months but I plan to report them to the regulators for miselling.
