Remove Caulk form PVC windows

Hi,

The previous owner of our property has done a messy/shoddy job of installing PVC windows. I want to give them a revamp. Currently there is dried caulk all over them. What is the best way to get this off without scratching the PVC frames? My initial thought was to go in with soap and brillo pad but that's no no.

Many thanks,
C

Also, if anyone knows how to remove some dried on silcone from a window that would be great too. Thanks again.

You can buy sealant remover from Screwfix - item No. 17175 costs £2.79. There is a Unibond product for £10.21.
    Forgotten but not gone.

get a solvent based pvc cleaner and clean it with kitchen roll and scrape it with plastic block (like a glazing block or packer they fitted the window with).repeat should be good . Calk is only inside yes ?Silicone will be a little tougher but will do the same jobby
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • Ant recommendations for a solvent based pvc cleaner that you could pick up in a local B&Q or Homebase?
