First Plus PPI

Took out a loan with First Plus for £27k in 2002 and being a little naive at the time didnt realise the monthly payments would start going up rather sharpish. After approx 2 to 3 years of payments, I decided that I could not manage these payments, so re-mortgaged the house to clear the debts that way.
With the all the monthly payments made and the ' Settlement figure' we paid back approx £45k to First plus in 2005.
In July 2010 I contacted a company called 'The Fair Trade company' and started proceedings into recliaming back the mis-sold PPI's .
To be honest I didn't think there was much hope, but went for it anyway, after all it's free to apply.
In November 2010 I received a cheque for £8,600 which I have to pay The Fair Trade Company 25% of that, but still what a result.
Don't give up, it's worth a phonecall!!
I have an outstanding claim against Barclays ( Woolwich ), but they have put that one on hold pending an outcome on a British bankers test case. we shall wait and see
Good Luck

Good point, but I did try and claim through First plus back in 2006 but they said that there was nothing they could do to help, it was all in the agreement bla bla.I also contacted the Ombudsman in 2006 and they also said there was nothing I could do.
so all in all after thinking that I was not going to get anything back, £6,500 was a good result?:beer:0 -
The fos uphold 99% of all frontloaded ppi mis sell and all these have been paid out to date, to say the fos told you that that it was in the agreement is not right. These were very much mis sold and the fos would have taken your complaint on board, FP are the worst offenders in this and i find it hard to believe that the fos told you this, you should consider a complaint against the fos, as if it were not for the "bad advice" they gave, you would not have to pay this company a fee.Or, do you work for this company and are trying to drum up some business?.0

No I don't work for them.
I wrote to the FOS and respected their reply at the time ( 2006 ) that's all.0 -
With my own experience of the FOS telling me 3 times (once was in writing) that i could not claim against Norton i can understand why people would give up.
I would advise anyone to complain themselves with the aid of helpful peeps on sites like this. However for many people for whatever reason they give up when told they have no case. I think it is good that at least you got some money back by using someone else.
I do still think that the amount the companies charge is better in your own pocket though.“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -

Absolutely nothing to do with FOS if someone gets a 3rd party to complain on there behalf.
With written authority from consumers theres nothing FOS can do.0 -
This was tongue in cheekAbsolutely nothing to do with FOS if someone gets a 3rd party to complain on there behalf.

and not meant to be taken seriously by op, as i assumed (rightly or wrongly) they were promoting this company. 0
