why was this thread closed?

hi, i started a thread , hoping to debate whether illicit drugs should be illegalised or decriminalized
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/39846816#Comment_39846816

i dont see anything offensive with the topic, so surerly a fairer option would be to just delete the posts of bullying by a few specific mse members?

a lot of threads have been closed recently because of bullying and most have actually started off as pretty enjoyable debates, thus why not just remove the post that are off topic or at least give a reasonb why the thread is being closed

Why has my post/thread been removed without telling me?
Posts/threads are deleted so we're no longer "publishing" them. While you may have posted it once we are made aware of it - we are legally liable too as the publisher. When something is deleted, it's removed from public view but it's still viewable by the Forum Team and can be reinstated if it needs to be. It won't show up in a forum search.
We never contact people when their posts are deleted. The sheer numbers of posts removed every day means it's simply impossible to contact everyone.
The Forum Team won't respond to aggressive emails demanding to know why a post/thread's been removed but if you send them a polite email asking, they may review or explain the decision where possible (sometime legal reasons prevent this).

    In particular, post#5

Non-moneysaving threads are not considered a priority, and Martin wishes the limited resurces of the Forum Team to concentrate their time & efforts on the threads that are moneysaving related.

I've not read the thread, but you suggest there may have been some bullying developing.

This site is devoted to money-saving. Debates about legalising drugs are entirely inappropriate to this site and should, in my opinion, be deleted.

There must be other sites where such discussions are appropriate and the OP should post them there.

The whole site is devoted to money saving? You're wrong I'm afraid!

We have the Discussion Time board and the Money Savers Arms board. There's no money saving going on in either of those!

The thread in question could have been deleted for a varity of reasons, not just the topic in question.

Sorry, but I posted the thread on discussion time, which is a place to discuss politics and topical issues, not always relating to money saving. The thread also covered lots of issues relating to government spending before it was closed, so i disagree with you.

It seems that the thread, (as well as others) was closed due to one posters comments

The whole idea of Discussion Time is so that the rest of MSE doesn't get polluted with the bile which emanates from there. I look in from time to time, like an ambulance chaser checking out the latest car crash, but I wouldn't dream of posting on any of the threads.

To be quite honest I would say the majority of DT threads are candidates for deletion.

    Really?

I think DT is the best board on this forum tbh
