Have vertical blinds on all windows. had them fitted at least 7 years ago. They are made from fabric, not plastic. They are showing dirt/dust.
Was wondering what is the best way to clean them? They clearly need a wash.

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Unhook them all seperatly and put them in the washing machine on a very gentle wash with the lowest spin. This is the advice the guy from Hilarys told me when he came to fit my vertical blinds. I havent tried it yet so I cant comment on how well it works. You might find more advice on Hilarys website.

I had this problem a couple of years ago, and I could remember that the supplier told me some were washable and some weren't. I couldn't remember though if mine were washable or not, but they were so bad I had to do something.
What I did was to take them down window by window (so they didn't get mixed up) straighten them and folded them neatly then put them in a pillowcase and washed them at 30* with a short spin. I re-hung them whilst damp and the weights at the bottom helped to get any small creases out. I tried the smallest window first, as my neighbour did hers and the edges frayed, that's why I used a pillowcase. HTH, good luck!0 -
I do as the poster (marmite') above said except i put about 6 rolled up together in a pillow case and then tie the pillow case at the top and put them in the machine on a wool wash or the gentlest wash prog' then when theyre done i lay them flat individually on some bath towels to dry out this is what my blind fitter told me to do and ive done the blinds in this house and my previous house and theyve always turned out fine.0

As above, put them in the washing machine as shown in the following video link.

Rolling them is the best way to wash them that way there are no creases.. I do mine in a sink full of soapy water rolled up and just swish them around then rinse the same way. I dry them outside in the sun if poss...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I rolled mine seperately, left the weights in and soaked them in the bath with cold water and Bold washing powder, then drip dried them. Still had to handle them carefully in case they creased.0

I washed mine when I moved in, think they must have been cheap ones as they shrunk and lost their shape at the edges
Most people I know wash theirs so I did mine, had to end up replacing them
Might be best to wash a couple from the ends to make sure they are ok0 -
I took mine down take weights and chains off, wash on cold wash with washing powder and lowest spin speed(400)......
I then ironed them on medium setting , come up beautiful, hang when damp after irioning they soon dry off........job done in no time.......:D0 -
a soak overnight in the bath with stardrops, the one with ammonia is best, let the water out and fill up with rinsing water, drip dry on the
line and they will absolutely sparkle. We do ours about twice a year.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
