thanks for the helpful replies, for the people who want to know these questions - how did i not realise? its only £10 a month, i always know my balance within £10-£15, i used to check regularly but unfortunatly my brother has broken his neck and needs a lot of support, in between working full time and also looking after my nana i just havent had the time, i just check the balance and if it wasnt what i expected then yes i would have checked, i have been paying my direct debit for 2 years so thats why i say i had a direct debit set up, and yes i should have checked the statements but as i said, i have an awful lot going on, not an excuse i know but my bills havent been my top priority lately
