You need to address your line manager and ask about possibilities of progression.

Unsocialble shifts, high risk/value storage and such factors might mean greater renumeration.

What sort of jobs did you think you would get with business + computing before you started?
  • you know what i'd do.. save your money and get ATW (around the world) ticket with a working visa in australia or new zealand and do a few menial jobs (working on farms, wineries, call centres etc) make friends, get drunk and have a great time

it is clear that your CV is not inspiring any business to take you on.
You need a break from the norm and enjoy your life..

I got a degree 10 years back, and training to be an accountant i was getting disallusioned on £13k a year so i saved up and travelled for a year in 2003/4 (and then travelled a bit more and a bit more in the years following) now present day I'm not earning mega bucks, but my life/work balance is spot on and i'm earning a 'qualified' salary so i can afford to do what i want to do (mainly travel)

In the good times we need accountants in the bad times we need even more accountants

There are loads of career opportunitites in warehousing if you put the effort in - technical specialist, team leader, shift manager, warehouse manager, operations manager etc and probably loads of opportunity to move horizontally. If you are getting lots of good feedback then ask for a review and see what you can do about career progression in your company.

Things I would suggest to get the next step up:
    - be ultra reliable
    - if you see anyways of making things better suggest them to managers or if you can try and implement them
    - keep on applying for the more senior jobs and if you dont get them ask for feedback on why then work on it
    - try and develop good people manager/leadership skills

None of that changes the environment though - until you get quite high up in the hierarchy its still shop floor rather than office based if that bothers you.

Other than that do you know what you want to do for a career?

It won't solve all your problems but have you looked at topping up your HND to a degree with the OU? If you're on a low household income, the fees will be paid, it'll look good on your CV and will give your life the challenge and purpose that it seems to lack at the moment.

I would have a look into this. One of my old teachers got his degree through the OU and continues to study part time.

Even graduates have it hard with employers binning applications with 2.2 and under, so your HND sadly might not be worth the paper it's written on.

Tbh i suppose i was another 1 of those, choosing a Degree because thats what people were doing at the time, and the Uni life kind of excited me, i am also quite intrigued with the Business side of things, i would love to open my own Business 1 day, but i dont know where to start and it seems quite scary.

Thanks for the advice but travelling is not for me, for various reasons, sounds as if you have it sorted though :T

I agree with you and i have ticked most of your boxes, the probelm at the moment opportunities are so few and far between due to job cuts and other external fators, i will keep plugging away though.

For a Career, i have always wanted to open up my own Business but i suppose the thought of failing really scares me, plus i really dont know how to start up.

I didn't have the required experience for a 12k retail job last year, might try applying for a few jobs this year, I would really like to just find somthing with a steady income that I could live on, realistically i'm not sure its going to happen.

Good employers i've been told will take risks with inexperienced employees, not found them myself either.

you dont need experience for retail let aone a 12k retail job, i was on 12k (or not far off, it was 5 years ago so if i was gettings wage then yes it would be 12k) when i was last in retail,

OP im actually in a similar position to yourself except i have a btec instead of a hnd, everything you described in your first post is exactly how i feel at the minute,
