Hello, Im newish around here!
I also made Onion Marmalade for Xmas presents, along with Sweet Chilli Jam. Onion Marmalade was quite cheap to make, but Sweet Chilli would have worked out very expensive as it needed loads of peppers. Luckily I got to Tesco just as they were reducing packs of peppers to 40p... so for less than a fiver I managed to get 5 jars of scrummy Chilli Jam!
Im not a chopper either.... mine were sliced in the food processor, still made me cry tho!0 -

Ive made them the last 3 Christmases as everyone looks forward to it. This year I did spiced apple chutney as I was given 3 bags of apples on Freecycle. If I cant find something "cheap" I do red onion marmalade, everyone likes it and I usually get the onions from Lidl on offer.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I posted a couple of onion recipes on the preservers thread.
Red onion marmalade and Onion marmalade.
I substituted oil for butter in the second recipe, as I didn't like the way it looked on the red onion marmalade, as it had set within it. I just didn't look very nice, but did not effect the flavour in anyway
Hope this helps0 -
