can i close a Nationwide acc online?

Quick question: I have a nationwide flex account with debit and credit card. I've cleared the overdraft and CC balance and now want to close it. Can I do this online or do I have to go into a branch to do it?

I can't find anything online that lets me do it?

Anyone know?

Most banks need you to go into the branch with a form of ID. Hope this helps x

I would think you would need to take some ID into a branch. Why not give them a call and find out what they need from you?

Ooh, I just found this on their website:

You may close your account at any time by writing to us at Nationwide Building Society, Nationwide House, Pipers Way, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN38 1NW. We will only close your account when you have made all the payments you are responsible for under your account. In normal circumstances, we will not close your account without giving you at least 30 days' notice.

Given that even changing my address with them when we moved was a massive palava, I don't think they'll make closing an account particularly easy. I am sure if I am wrong someone will correct me
