    THis one:

seems about half the price of the immersun so was going to go for the former. Thoughts?

I installed mine last week and posted my first impressions in "Choice of Intelligent Switches" but I'd echo the previous reply - it just works.

Does anyone still install these PV panels for free?

How much to get these for a small 2 bed semi?

Are they still subsidised by the Government?

    Thanks in advance.

and other I woulkd guess. Subsidy from gov comes in form of FIT payments.
  • I believe the company supplying the panels would get the payments though you'd just get the electricity.

Ah, well ... I can't comment on this company, but the BBC have been reporting on people who are unable to proceed with selling their houses because the transfer of the lease on the roof has to be agreed by the new owners and the 'rent a roof' company, and they couldn't agree. The buyer's solicitors advised them that the terms were unacceptable and needed to be varied and not to sign, and the 'rent a roof' company had no incentive to agree to any change.

If you can afford to buy the panels your self then I'd suggest looking in to it(there's plenty of info on here plus members who are more than happy to advise/help).
You also mention a "small" 2 bed semi which may in fact be too small for such as a shade greener who require space for around 16/18 panels and it must face between SE & SW with no shading.

As orrery mentions, think very carefully about committing your roof space for the next 20 years. Houses with them do sell, BUT you would narrowing your market IF you decided to sell whilst the lease is still in place

In the summer months do most of you guys still have the gas boiler timed to heat your hot water for an hour or so in the morning/evening?

Nope. I turn mine on manually, but haven't really needed to for ages now, even though I like a nice hot bath when I get back from football training or matches. But I should point out that I'm a single gal so my usage is reasonably low and I've only myself to please.

In the summer with an immersion heater device and a 4kw system you find very little need to have the gas boiler on at all. Probably more efficient to just divert all excess Elec to the immersion and top up on very cloudy days and at weekends when house is occupied.

:o Ha ha, in the interests of honesty and full disclosure I have to admit I used the gas heating for water yesterday, as the weather seems to have reverted to late November.. I'm leaving my snow tyres on for a few days (just don't want to get wet changing them)..
