Wow, great January results from the steep roofs in south !!

    I'm in far-flung Aberdeensire. 30 degree roof.

My January kWh / kWp is a modest 28

so, average per day = 0.9

(due to the VERY low angle of sun here in Jan !!)

But we will compete pretty well in summer :)

Brian, you're just rubbing it in now, I only got 20per kWp in Cardiff. Now I'm being beaten by Aberdeenshire! I'm going home again!

36.1kWh/kWp for Jan. SSE facing, 37 deg pitch, North Sussex. How I hate that telegraph pole that casts a diagonal shadow in the afternoon!

  • I have sourced a 1kw 27inch immersion heater element. I have been able to use this quite often during the winter on sunny days to heat the water. I have a standard sized tank and it takes about 2.5 hours to heat the water which is set to 75 degrees C. I know this is high, but if the next day is dull I still have some hot water in the cylinder. This is only good if you have a cylinder cupboard. If you have a combination condensing boiler the chances are you will not be able to use this method. A search of the www will locate the heating element. It is important to get the long version or you won't get much hot water. 1kw seems to be a good size for my 3.84 pkw system. I am aware that this particular supplier will make a custom size element for your requirements
