choosing a new laptop

I am looking for a new laptop to replace my old lenovo...have tracked down 2 that I'm really happy with so far.

The first is the lenovo z560

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/3226/2493/-/16709612/Lenovo-IdeaPad-Z560-Intel-Core-i5-2-4GHz-4GB-640GB-DVD-SM-15-6-inch-Windows-7-Home-Premium-Laptop-Notebook/Product.html?searchtype=genre#

- this is my ideal laptop, but is rather expensive for my student budget:

the other is the msi CR620-669UK

not being a tech person, I am wondering what justifies the huge difference in price? I realise the MSI has a smaller ram capability, but is this essential?

I'm basically after a good, multi-purpose laptop that can handle being used for work (I'm doing a masters, so usually have a lot of browsers open at once as I look at online journals), plus be okay for watching DVD's and playing the od game, e.g. sims 3.

Any other suggestions would be greatly welcomed. Cheers guys :)
