Cheapest 'safe' Package family holiday

Hi, can anyone reccomend any cheap package holiday companies? My brother is looking to take his family abroad for the first time. He will have to go in August due to the schools not allowing holidays during term time. Also, he has a family of five in total so needs something a bit larger than the typical hotel room. Places like Thompson and First choice cost a fortune but he's worried about using a smaller operator incase they go bust or something. Any suggestions?

some of the 'smaller' holiday companies are just as safe, if not safer as the major companies.
companies we use are affiliated with other companies in other ways, and therefore safer than others. here are a few examples:
Jet2holidays.com. Owned by Jet2.com, and therefore owned by the Dart Group. Jet2.com are one of the few airlines that actually own all their aircraft, rather than leasing them. Basically, just imagine the difference between mortgaging your house and actually owning your house.
Just sunshine holidays (tunisia, and for 2011 Turkey). Owned by the largest hotel group in Tunisia, (el mouradi), and the same company is the 3rd largest company in Tunisia, owning businesses ranging from transportation companies, property to furniture showrooms.
Red Sea Holidays (Red sea area of Egypt), again owned by one of the largest companies in Egypt.
At the end of the day, all you need to make sure at the end of the day is that the holiday you booked is 'financially protected & bonded', in order that just in case the holiday company does go bust, then whilst you may lose your holiday, you will not lose your money.

What about a gite in France? Country cottages have some nice options with ferry crossings.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
