Hi Guys.

I am planning on Attending an event in Aberdeen on March 5th, Im intending to travel on the 4th and return on the 6th and looking for ideas and suggestions of means to look at.

I'm hoping to find a flight from Southampton but having had a quick google there doesn't seem to be anything available.

Not adverse to using the trains, (with a YP railcard) but it seems that to get tickets at less than £80 its nessecary to overnight on a platform somewhere or leave at 5 something am - which Im not keen on.

ANy ideas of where to look for a decent ticket/price?

    How about Glasgow Airport, then Train/Megabus/Citylink Bus to Aberdeen.

    This will hopefull give you a lot more flight times and prices.

    Edit: Just had a look on the East Coast Website and you can do the journey for £66.35 (with YP railcard) with no overnighter or early start;

    Southampton to Aberdeen 4th Mar dep12:30 arr 21:53 Advance single £37.30*
    Aberdeen to Southampton 6th dep 11:47 arr 22:34 Advance single £29.05*

    *includes 10% discount if bought via East coast website, Booked trains only and via London.

    You can fly from southampton to aberdeen via Belfast leaving on the 4th and returning on the 7th for £181.46

    Or you could fly from Luton direct to Aberdeen £48

    Try using this website http://www.skyscanner.net/

    The Southampton Airport website shows flights with Eastern Airways via Liverpool returning via Durham Tees Valley.

    Alternatively get a Megatrain ticket to London then take the Caledonian Sleeper to Aberdeen from Euston and sleep your way north.

    Go to https://www.flybe.com as they are the main airline out of Soton. You can fly for about £75 rtn to edinburgh.
  • My son just flew Flybe to Edinburgh from Southampton today. Takes about an hour with free courtesy bus into city centre to connect to other places by train etc.
