Debehams credit card problem.

Last month I paid the remaining balance on my card seven days before it was due. While out shopping on Christmas Eve my debenhams card was stopped. I contacted Santander and explained the problem to them. They stated that the payment had not been received. I checked with my bank and they confirmed the payment (cheque) had been made to Santander. In the meantime I have received another bill from Santander (not showing the payment I made) and a late payment fine. What do I do please?

I would try and give them a call again, they have been having a lot of problems with sort codes and things like that, I had my debenham card transfered to one of their mastercards, in doing this I tried to pay it off and the sort code given on the statement was wrong. The payment didn't clear and I was charged for non-payment. Once I had finally got through to an advisor I talked it all through and they deducted the late payment fee and I paid via debit card over the phone.Have the facts in front of you about the numbers etc and they may be able to work out what went wrong. hope it goes ok for you .

Find out if the cheque has been cashed, if yes, get a copy of the cheque, on the back of the cheque it should have stamped on the sort code/acc number of where it was cashed.

    EDIT..sorry ignore me.
  • I've had exactly the same problem with my Debenhams card. The first time the payment was received on the correct date. I phoned and they refunded the late payment fee and said there was a software error they were aware of. In December they again charge £12 late fee this time on a £0 balance. Phoned again and they apologised - same problem and they don't know when it will be fixed. Said to phone again if the next statement had the same problem.
