Hi, Either PM me with the sellers ID or post it on here for us all to investigate! It is defo a shill bid! well sounds too much to coincidental! I thought that a bidder cannot just pull out of a bid that quickly! (Who cancelled the bid?) It is a way of avoiding fees for the seller if he wins his own auction! Usually it is if he is the only bidder! naughty seller!! - he should have just ended the auction 2 secs before close instead of taking bidder off! - Not that I am condoning this but usually these peeps are quite clever at this and he just messed up and is prob gonna get kicked off ebay if it gets reported!icon10.gif

  • I didnt realise you could withdraw your bid 2seconds before the auction ended, i thought you had to withdraw it 12hours before it ended and have a good reason for it.

If the person has a history of this then you can report him to ebay. Ive done that before.

AFAIK only the seller can 'delete' bids on an auction if it has less than 12 hours to go...

There seems to be a lot of accusation going on here without seeing the auction involved and thus any evidence of anything wrong. There are good reasons why a seller may want to remove a buyers bid, not involving anything illegal.

If a bid is retracted or deleted, then yes it does bump down to the previous bidder (this is where the law and ebays rules conflict).

A very simple way around it is to put your highest price into one of the online snipe services and then forget about the auction. To be honest I have never seen the point in bidding in advance.

Post the item number and then we can all have a look.

Im reading 'the ebay myth buster ' that I borrowed from the library yesterday and one of the first things it says is
seller uses a different ID or gets a friend to bid high, hoping to expose any high proxy bids that have been bid(hopefully higher than they have bid),sometimes though there isnt one higher than theirs so the seller will remove the bid.
Shill bidders almost never win anything they bid on (look at their past bidding history),they may have a lot of retracted bids in their profile but if they work with the seller,he will delete their bid so then it wont show as retracted.

    Doesnt sound good:(
