Didn't you get an instruction manual with it (the freeview recorder)?
If not, google the make and model to get one online, then follow the maker's suggested connection plan.0 -
Freeview box will need the aerial cable to be plugged in. And if tv has scart input, then you need the freebox to have a scart socket with scart cable connecting the two.
How you switch between Freeview and Virgin input on tv is down to the tv controls.
But if you have Virgin, no point putting Freeview box into same tv, the basic Virgin package contains the Freeview channels (all of which are trash if I might say so).0 -
hope if i can connect the recorder freeview box i will be able to record the freeveiw0

depends on the persons taste, i find most of the channels are ok but i do have the XL package so yes the basic package is alot of trash,
OP i take it you dont have a v+ box frm virgin and do you have the basic virgin package, if you do have the basic virgin package then why have you got a freeview pvr as well,0 -

Oh I see - I would stick to VHS
.
You could get V+ box from Virgin at extra cost, has recording capabilities.0 -
All replies off topic. He didn't ask for Virgin media he asked for how to setup a Freeview recorder.
beattiesman a TV usually only has one RGB enabled Scart socket and those give the most compatibility with devices and the highest quality so are the recommended connection method where Analogue connections are used.
But you will be wanting to use 2 RGB Scarts, one from the freeview and the other from the Virgin box so some external switching method is needed. So either a manual switch box which are cheap or a more versatile Scart router like the Holdan HSR-1000 which I have but this might be a bit more than you need unless you plan on using even more Scart connections. There are some inexpensive automatic scart switches but automatic only can be a bit of a nuisance in my experience.
Analogue connections (Scart) do require good quality components and cables or the quality suffers so cheap isn't always a good idea with Analogue.

Just connect the Freeview ( recorder ) Receiver to the second Scart on the TV, it will be fine.0
